This is a long-overdue review from me. Abbey is a deliciously claustrophobic two-floor bookshop that primarily sells English titles in Paris. The staff are first-class people—super helpful in a tightly packed store with thousands of books. I was looking for a rather rare title: The Recognitions by William Gaddis. The owner quickly recognized the title and located it in the book maze. The books are sorted by subject but shelved in a complex way, meaning it's possible to find the same title in different sections. You can browse through countless titles without being disturbed. Places like this impart a unique spirit to the city in which they're located.
This is a hidden gem in Paris. I was overwhelmed by the amount of books available and was then offered a cup of tea to enjoy the experience. The owner is an extremely gentle and knowledgeable person clearly passionate about books. I’d dare to say there’s a book for everyone in here. Would highly recommend it. This was certainly one of my favorite spots whilst in Paris
We loved this place! Brian is the kindest, coolest guy. He is great at helping you find exactly what you want to read. Go here on your first day and pick out a book to read at the park, the cafe, and the metro during your visit to Paris. They also have a kids section. We really enjoyed our visit to this adorable book store!
Really cool but really tiny bookstore! Lots of great things to discover inside. The downstairs is not for you if you’re claustrophobic… you’ve been warned! 😉🧡
Great bookstore for English language literature both new and used books. Worth a visit just to experience the love for books. Very friendly staff.
